Emergency services in Munich rescued an injured woman from a church tower in a dramatic abseiling operation, the southern German city's fire brigade said on Monday.
Rescue workers were called in on Sunday to help a 35-year-old who fell while descending from the viewing platform at the top of St Peter's Church in the Bavarian capital.
Due to the severity of her injuries, the woman had to be rescued in a horizontal position, meaning first responders were unable to transport her through the narrow stairwell leading to the tower.
The rescue team was forced to install a zip-line from the 60-metre platform to the ground.
The abseiling operation was watched by onlookers on St Peter's Square, with some applauding the rescuers after they successfully brought the woman down.
The injured woman was then taken to a Munich hospital by ambulance.
The tower at St Peter's Church, known as Old Peter, is one of the city's most popular vantage points.
