Völler believes Germany call-up for Karl is a matter of time

German Football Federation (DFB) sporting director Rudi Völler believes that it's only a matter of time until Bayern Munich talent Lennart Karl is nominated to the Germany squad.

"He's getting better and better. We're all delighted in Germany that we have such talented players who are developing in this way," Völler said in the Bild Sport show on Sunday.

Karl, who was one of the stars in Bayern Munich's 6-2 win against Freiburg on Saturday, said that he hasn't had any contact with national team coach Julian Nagelsmann yet.

Völler, however, hinted that this could change ahead of the 2026 World Cup if Karl continues to impress.

"If he continues like this, then it's great. But there will certainly be a few moments in which things don't go so well," Völler said.

Karl was recently nominated to the under-21 squad and scored three goals in his first two games.

"We have to wait," Völler said about a debut for the first team.

Karl's situation at Bayern could change and he may get less playing time once injured Jamal Musiala returns.

"I just have to show my performance and see what Julian does," Karl said after the win against Freiburg.
