Former Germany midfielder Thomas Müller will be a TV pundit for Magenta TV during the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the broadcasters owned by Telekom said in a statement on Friday.

"This is a dream transfer for us," Telekom TV boss Arnim Butzen said.

"Thomas embodies passion, intuition, and spirit in football like no other," he added.

In addition to classic analyses and spontaneous live reactions, the 2014 World Cup winner will also provide informal talks and tactical insights, the statement said.

"I'm really excited about this new challenge and am looking forward to the tournament. This time, not on the pitch, but at the microphone," Müller said.

After 25 years at Bayern Munich and multiple titles, Müller left his boyhood club this summer and joined MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.

Last week, he became the most decorated German football player of all time as he won the Canadian Championship, which was the 35th title of his career.

Magenta TV will broadcast all 104 World Cup matches next year and the paid streaming service has the exclusive rights for 44 games.
