Following the Israeli attacks on Iran early Friday, the German Lufthansa Group has suspended its flights to and from Tehran until July 31 "due to the current situation."

The airport in Tel Aviv in Israel will also no longer be served during this period, the group announced in Frankfurt.

The group's airlines had five flights a week from Frankfurt to Tehran and the same in the opposite direction.

The group member airlines have not flown to Israel since the beginning of May for security reasons.

Flights to the Jordanian capital Amman, Erbil in Iraq and Lebanon's Beirut will also be suspended until June 20. Moreover, the carriers will refrain from flying over the airspace of those countries "until further notice."

The cancellations apply to the airlines Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, ITA Airways, Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo.

Swiss additionally decided to suspend its flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of the summer flight schedule on October 25 and to and from Beirut until July 31.
