Opel chief executive Florian Huettl will retain his position at the German carmaker for another three years, after the supervisory board at the Stellantis subsidiary extended his contract to 2028 on Monday.

Huettl, 48, took over the top job at Opel in June 2022. He has also been in charge of Stellantis operations in Germany since December 2024.

Opel, which is headquartered in Rüsselsheim near Frankfurt, is the sole German brand in the portfolio of multinational auto giant Stellantis.

Stellantis, based in Amsterdam, emerged from a merger between Fiat-Chrysler and the French Peugeot parent company PSA, which had taken over Opel in 2017.
