Unbeaten Bayern Munich initially rested several top names but still triumphed 5-0 at VfB Stuttgart thanks to Harry Kane's hat-trick to stay clear at the top on the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Defender Konrad Laimer's superb opener was followed by the latest Kane treble and a goal from fellow substitute Josip Stanišić.

"Obviously it's something I'm not too used to," Kane joked to Sky about being a substitute. "We looked the stronger team in the last half hour and we punished them."

Second-placed RB Leipzig also had their own hat-trick hero in a 6-0 romp at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the late game which keeps Bayern's lead at eight points after just 13 matches.

Yan Diomande scored three in the second half, with Conrad Harder, Christoph Baumgartner and a David Raum penalty swelling the score against a fitful Frankfurt side in seventh spot.

Augsburg's first game since the sacking of coach Sandro Wagner ended in a 2-0 home win over fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen.

Dimitrios Giannoulis finished off a superb pass from Keven Schlotterbeck early on and Anton Kade headed home as interim boss Manuel Baum picked up just a fourth win of the league season.

Also towards the bottom, Wolfsburg snapped a four-game winless streak in a 3-1 home victory over Union Berlin, their first in the league in the city since January.

Interim coach Daniel Bauer's side scored with their first three shots on target, Patrick Wimmer's impressive first goal of the season and Mohamed Amoura's emphatic finish in the first half were added to by Lovro Majer after the break.

Third-bottom Heidenheim left it late for a 2-1 home success over Freiburg.

The wins for Augsburg, Wolfsburg and Heidenheim made second-bottom St Pauli's late 1-1 draw at Cologne less valuable.

Hamburg-based St Pauli at least ended a run of nine Bundesliga defeats in a row but are four points from absolute safety.

St Pauli coach Alexander Blessin was annoyed with how the Cologne ball boys did their job, which he thought hindered his side.

"The situation really annoys me. I don't understand why some teams can't get it right with these ball boys," he said.

Bottom team Mainz lost 1-0 at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday. Fourth-bottom Hamburg host Werder Bremen on Sunday when Borussia Dortmund, in third, also welcome Hoffenheim.

Kane a substitute - but scores hat-trick

Bayern made six changes to the side which battled past Union in the Cup in midweek, with Manuel Neuer and Kane among those on the bench.

Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson replaced top scorer Kane and was close with an early chance.

But the classy opener came via an unlikely source when right back Laimer found himself further forward than any Bayern player following keeper Jonas Urbig's punt up field.

He controlled well and laid the ball off to Michael Olise, who gave it him back via a nutmeg.

Austria's Laimer then cleverly back-heeled the ball through the legs of Stuttgart's on-loan Bayern keeper Alexander Nübel for 1-0.

Sixth-placed Stuttgart thought they had equalized through Nikolas Nartey but a long video review ruled it out for offside.

Kane came on for Jackson on the hour and soon netted from distance before Stanišić scored when Nübel erred against his parent club.

Lorenz Assignon's red on 81 minutes for handball on the line meant Kane converted from the spot and the England star quickly wrapped up his 10th Bundesliga hat-trick in just two and half seasons.

The Bundesliga top scorer from the past two campaigns has a league-high 17 goals already this term as Bayern's 12 wins in 13 games and one draw extended their record-equalling start.
