Kompany wants Bayern to return to Berlin after Cup clash at Union

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said that he wants to reach the German Cup final and return to Berlin after their trip to the German capital to face Union Berlin on Wednesday.

"Of course I want to return to Berlin after the game. You can always say you want to win everything - but it takes work and attitude. If we show tomorrow how hungry we are for the final, then we have a good chance," he said in a news conference on Tuesday.

Bayern haven't reached the final since 2020, when they won the title. In the past five seasons, they were eliminated three times in the second round.

But Kompany said that he appreciates the pressure in the Cup.

"That's good pressure. At the end of the season, we'd like to have this pressure again, even more. We want to put in a good performance and win - we're prepared for anything," he said.

Union have been the only team so far who took points away from Bayern in the Bundesliga as they held the German champions to a 2-2 draw on November 8.

"We can do again what we showed in the last five minutes against Union. It's a knock-out game against a physically big team. Union hope they will get their moment," Kompany said.

He added that Alphonso Davies won't be able to make his comeback from injury against Union.
